The Veil

Written by Matthew Mahoney

As I gaze through my window -

this lonely window -

I see a single raindrop

down the pane, and

onto the veil.

I try to touch the window, foolishly

thinking the rain will stop -

but instead I draw the curtains,

hoping to mask the sound.

As time moves on and light begins to fade,

that moment remains with me,

reminding me of the time I spent

before that day, beyond which

I could feel no pain.
